Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Sakkara, Dashur, Abydos, Dendarah: April 10-22, 2024

5 Star Accommodations

Intimate and Personal

A Unique Itinerary Filled with Private Visits

ANCIENT EGYPT COMES TO LIFE

In the last few years so much has changed, but one thing has remained constant: our hunger for connection and insight.

There are many amazing place in Egypt that I've longed to share with people, but that most travelers never get to see. So we crafted an experience to bring these places to life. In 1997 I had a profound spiritual awakening in the Temple of Seti at Abydos. A vision of the sacred geometry of the Flower of Life as living electric fire. It completely transformed me. Since then I've returned to Egypt more than 25 times to help share these mysteries with others.

Join us in April as we explore a number of newly opened, or rarely seen sites in this remarkable country. As we trace the story of Osiris, the primal template of the dying and resurrecting God-man, and immerse ourselves in these awe-inspiring ancient places, we reconnect with our truest selves, and forge a new understanding of our lives and our souls.

Visit Luxor Temple at Night

Luxor is home to the greatest concentration of antiquities on the planet. Known as Thebes in the ancient world, Luxor is a friendly and fascinating mixture of the ancient and modern, the metropolitan and the rustic.

One evening, we will have a special night visit to the magnificent structure of Luxor Temple. Here is where R.A. Schwaller de Lubicz developed his revolutionary Symbolist Interpretation; science, art, religion and philosophy are fused into one vast, coherent whole.

Experience the Avenue of the Sphinxes, the great hypostyle hall, the working mosque, nearly a thousand years old, right on the temple grounds. Part of the largest temple complex in the world, Luxor is not to be missed.

Visit Dendera and Abydos Temples, including a private visit to the Osirion and the Flower of Life...

In the early morning, we will drive to Dendera Temple, one of Egypt’s most beautiful temples, which is dedicated to Hathor, Goddess of Love, Music and Joy. Here we meditate in the Chapel of Nut, the birthing room, as well as seeing the world’s oldest sundial, and graffiti from Napoleon’s soldiers.

Then on to Abydos, one of the most spellbinding spots in Egypt. Here at the Temple of Seti I is the birth of the Rameses style. Among the temple’s special features are the Seven Axial Chapels, whose reliefs number among the most beautiful in Egyptian art, and the ancient, enigmatic Osirion, home to the Flower of Life: the most important symbol in sacred geometry. We'll also see the bizarre "future vision" hieroglyphs which seem to show tanks, planes and helicopters.

By special arrangement we will enjoy a private visit down into the Osirion itself, a remarkable site normally off limits to tourists.

No pilgrimage to Egypt is complete without visiting Abydos.

Temple of Kom Ombo

We sail to Kom Ombo, the temple dedicated to two deities: the crocodile god, Sobek, and Horus the Elder, the innate potential for enlightenment dormant within each of us. Kom Ombo was a famous healing temple in ancient days and is now both a gloriously picturesque edifice and an energy-filled ruin overlooking a bend in the Nile.

After our exploration here, we continue sailing through the glorious countryside of Egypt on our way to the city of Aswan.

Karnak Temple

Karnak temple is a vast and remarkable place, one of the largest spiritual sites in the world.

Once connected to Luxor Temple, two miles away, by a long avenue of Sphinxes (now almost fully restored), Karnak is dedicated to the Powers of Creation and exhibits profound solar alignments. Karnak is the theater in which humanity plays out its destiny.

After exploring the main temple, we'll have a private visit to mysterious "Chapel of Sekhmet,” one of the most intimate, yet powerful and beautiful, experiences of our entire journey.

Thebes, The Valley of the Kings, The Valley of the Queens

This morning after breakfast we drive to the West Bank of ancient Thebes, and begin our day at the famed Temple of Haphsetsut.   It was designed and implemented by Senenmut, royal steward and architect of Hatshepsut (and believed by some to be her lover), to serve for her posthumous worship and to honor the glory of Amun. It is built into a cliff face that rises sharply above it, and is widely considered to be one of the "incomparable monuments of ancient Egypt". This stunning architectural achievement will be an elegant and dramatic start to our day.

Next we visit the Valley of the Queens, home to the Tomb of Nefertari, Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II, dating from about 1300 BC. This stunning tomb was painstakingly restored over the course of 6 years. The paintings are remarkable for their electrifying colors -- including oranges, blues and greens -- and their intricate detail, such as steam rising from a bowl of soup. Widely considered to be the absolute pinnacle of Egyptian art, this tomb was closed in 1934, just 30 years after its opening, and access is strictly controlled to protect the jewel-like walls. Many consider the Tomb of Nefertari to be the "Sistine Chapel" of Egypt.

We continue our visit to the famed Valley of the Kings, where we'll see the incomparable Tomb of the mighty Seti I, as stunning in its own way as Nefertari's resting place. And then on to the immense Colossi of Memnon. We will also stop at an alabaster workshop in the Valley, where we can buy world-class pieces, lovingly hand-made, at local prices.

“Strive to see with the inner eye, the heart. It sees the reality not subject to emotional or personal error; it sees the essence. Intuition then is the most important quality to develop.”

― Muata Ashby, EGYPTIAN BOOK OF THE DEAD The Book of Coming Forth By Day

The Temple of Horus at Edfu

Visit the best-preserved temple in Egypt, the fabulous Temple of Horus the Avenger – the falcon god. Consecrated to Horus and to Set, it is the embodiment of the principles of self-mastery and resurrection; balancing the forces of dark and light. Our exploration of this site will encompass all these themes as we empower the Horus within us.

Sakkara

The famed Sakkara necropolis, home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser, is an incomparable milestone of the early pyramid age. About, 2630 B.C. Imhotep, architect to King Djoser (Dynasty III), masterminded this Step Pyramid, the world’s oldest freestanding stone structure. This pyramid consists of six tiers atop a mastaba, or low, oblong tomb, faced with cut stone. Here we’ll explore the newly opened Southern Tomb of Djoser with it’s stunning faience lined passageways and monumental granite sarcophagus.

We finish the day by exploring the enigmatic and mysterious Serapium, with its labyrinthian passes and cyclopian stone sarcophagi - carved from single massive granite and diorite blocks weighing up to 88,000 lb.

A Private Visit to the Temple of Isis

In the stillness before dawn we'll approach the island and Philae, home to the Temple of Isis, and slip quietly into the holy-of-holies for a moving ceremony of magic, manifestation and healing. Then we'll great the rising sun, as it brings life, and light, to the world.

The graceful temple and surrounding buildings of Philae were meticulously moved stone by stone from its ancient site (now submerged) to its new, higher, island home in the middle of the lake. Today it gives us – modern men and women with modern machines and incredible technical knowledge – great insight into what the ancient and intelligent peoples of the world could do with only simple technology and the will to create.

Enjoy a Felucca Ride...

The water of the Nile glides past, as the sun comes to the horizon and the day draws to a close...

The felucca is still, even after many centuries, the primary transportation of the Nile. Its ancient outlines graces the river today, as it has done since the age of the Pharaohs.

The Nubian Market and Aswan...

“The Pearl of Egypt!” With its colorful Nubian bazaar, laid-back atmosphere, warm and wonderful people and a lovely promenade along the Nile, Aswan is a favorite city in Egypt for many visitors.

Gourmet Meals

Dine on fabulous local cuisine throughout our journey; eat at some of the best places in Cairo and throughout our Nile cruise enjoy meals cooked by our own private chef. Vegetarians can be accommodated easily and meals are usually macrobiotic and always fresh and delicious!

Wednesday, Oct. 30th: Day 06: Cairo / Wadi El Natrun / Four Season – First Residence hotel

After breakfast we drive about an hour north of Cairo to Wadi El Natron, the valley of the salts, the "Coptic Vatican" and the actual birthplace for Christian monasticism.

Wadi Natron was important to the ancient Egyptians as the source for the minerals and salts used in mummification.

Christianity reached the area with St. Mark who sought refuge there in C.330.

Then the area became a sanctuary for Christians fleeing the systematic Roman persecution in the 4th century and there they started to develop a monastic order.

There used to be about 50 monasteries; only 4 have survived into modern times.

We begin with visit to Deir al Baramus which is the oldest of the surviving 4 monasteies. Then proceed to Deir Anba Bishoi, whose body is still interred in the monastery. We then continue to Anba Makaryus Monastery, which is the richest monastery now in Wadi el Natron. As it has more than 100 monks and 600 workers in the extensive farm which encircles it. We end our trip with Deir el Suryani which is the smallest and most compact of the 4 monastries.

The architecture of the value is quite unusual - beautiful and a bit otherworldly. It combines with the peaceful ambience to create a memorable visit to a powerful spiritual center. (Breakfast / Lunch / //)
